Spray Gun Model In Focus: DeVilbiss GPI

The GPi is capable of spraying a wide range of coating materials such as enamels, synthetics, primers, 2 pack commercial paints and materials with high or fast application rates.
Available with either 1.4, 1.6 or 1.8mm fluid tip. Please let us know which setup you would like. If we don’t receive a message we will send a 1.4mm.
**Please be aware that DeVilbiss do not anodise (colour) the gun, do not include a spanner or brush to keep the cost down. As it is a non cast gun it is polished to remove milling machine marks (milled guns are the best). As a result some very light polishing swirls may be partially visible but cannot be felt and will not harbour paint. Some very light polish residue is also sometimes present within the milled DeVilbiss logo on the handle. But the functionality of the gun is exceptional as it is milled on the same machines that the other PRO guns are made on. The internals are flawless and performance exceptional.
Spraygunreviews.com Review:
In order to maximize profit in the auto body business or on your personal project, a tool that reduces paint wastage is heaven sent.
Such is the case for this baby.
This gun is also forgiving for newbies, who are just starting learning how to paint as you can use it for just about anything.
By anything we mean this spray gun can actually be used for basecoat, clearcoat, 2k paint, etc.

PROS
Ability to spray on a wide range of materials. This is a do it everything, spray on everything type of spray gun. When we say a wide range of materials – we are talking about enamels, synthetics, primers, 2 pack commercial paints as well as materials that demand high or fast application rates.
Reliable. Typically, an auto body shop will just use a worn out and old spray gun to do the “typical and basic” things that are needed to complete a project. However by doing that, the quality and finish do not live up to standards and most often than not – that will translate to re-work. Re-work on a project means time lost and will therefore lead to income loss.
Affordability. We love the Iwata for their unmatched quality and technology, but the Devilbiss GPI price point is unmatched. You see a lot of cheap spray guns that claim to do this and that. However, it is very rare to actually find one that stays true to its claims. This spray gun however delivers what it promises.
Ease of use. Even a total noob can actually set up and get this gun to work without major hiccups. If you are a newbie, this will be perfect for you.
Parts are readily available. No issues searching for parts that are compatible with this gun. We initially opted for the 1.4 tip only to realize that we also want the 1.6 and we had no issues purchasing it.
CONS
Not so smooth – If you are someone who is all for aesthetics and OC with getting you gun scratch free, then you will be a bit disappointed because you can expect to get some scratches from the Devilbiss GPI – even right off the box.
According to our research this is what we found:
“DeVilbiss do not anodise (colour) the gun, do not include a spanner or brush to keep the cost down. As it is a non cast gun it is polished to remove milling machine marks (milled guns are the best). As a result some very light polishing swirls may be partially visible but cannot be felt and will not harbour paint”
Sometimes out of stock – because of the popularity of this spray gun, you will have a bit of difficulty sourcing it online.
Not readily available in the US – If you are based in the US, you may encounter some disappointment procuring this gun. Not the case however if you are based in Europe or Australia.
